PRODUCT DESCRIPTION 

Peglec powder contains an osmotic laxative and electrolytes for an oral solution, which is used as a gastrointestinal lavage (used for cleansing the colon). Cleansing the colon is vital to get an accurate colonoscopy and barium enema X-ray examination. 

COMPOSITION  

Each pack (137.15 g) contains

Polyethylene glycol 3350               U.S.P.   118.0 g

Sodium Chloride                               I.P.   2.93 g

Potassium Chloride                          I.P.  1.484 g

Sodium Bicarbonate                         I.P.  3.370 g

Anhydrous Sodium Sulphate B.P.  11.360 g

Dosage form: Powder for oral solution

Uses/indications of Peglec powder:

  • Prior to colonoscopic procedure and X-ray examinations
  • Prior to colorectal surgery and hysterectomy 

Dosage: The recommended dose for adults is one pack of Peglec.

Direction to use:

A. How to prepare:

  1. Take a clean 2-liter container and empty the entire pack of Peglec (137.15 g) into it. Note: For proper reconstitution of Peglec solution, it is essential that the entire pack be emptied without leaving any quantity of powder in the pack.
  2. Add the flavor (orange or pineapple) by emptying the contents of the small sachet.
  3. Pour 1 liter of water into the container and stir well to dissolve Peglec completely.
  4. Pour one more liter of water into the container to make it 2 liters of solution and then stir thoroughly to ensure complete dissolution.

B. How to Drink

  1. Pour the prepared solution into a cup (approx. 200 ml)
  2. Drink 200 ml (one cup) at a time every 10-15 minutes so as to consume 1 litre of solution (five cups) in a maximum of 1 hour's duration.
  3. Normally the first bowel movement may occur after about one to two hours from the start of drinking.
  4. Continue drinking the remaining Peglec solutions even after the start of the bowel movements. The bowel movement occurs several times (5-8 times) during the administration of the remaining solution. You may, however, stop drinking when the stool changes into water-like (colorless or yellowish) and without any solid matter, which is an indication of lavage being completed.

SAFETY MEASURES

SIDE EFFECTS: Generally, Peglec powder is well tolerated. Inform your doctor if you have any allergic reactions/hypersensitivity reactions to this product. 

STORAGE & HANDLING: Store protected from light and moisture at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees C. Use the prepared Peglec solution immediately. Do not store the solution for later use later.
